Documentation Site Privacy Policy
This documentation site (docs.scriptcat.org, "the site") is developed and operated by the ScriptCat team. This policy applies only to the site; our other products have their own policies:
- Browser extension: ScriptCat Privacy Policy
- Script site: see the privacy policy published on scriptcat.org

1. What we do not collect
Browsing this site requires no registration or sign-in. We do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number or any other identifying information, and we do not create an account for you. Apart from the third-party services listed below and the content you submit yourself, we do not collect information that directly identifies you.
2. Third-party services we use
| Service | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Traffic and page-view statistics | Cookies; IP anonymization enabled; page URL, referrer, and general browser/device information |
| Google AdSense | Displaying ads on some pages | Cookies or similar device identifiers, used for ad serving, frequency capping and performance measurement |
| Algolia DocSearch | Site search | The terms you type are sent to Algolia to return results |
| ScriptCat servers | Fetching public statistics such as the GitHub star count | The information any network request carries, such as your IP address and browser type |
These services are operated independently by their respective providers, and their data processing is governed by their own privacy policies.
3. Local storage in your browser
To remember your preferences (such as your light/dark theme choice, and which language version you have already been redirected to) and to cache a little public data so we do not request it repeatedly, this site stores some information locally in your browser. It stays on your device, is never uploaded to our servers, and is removed when you clear your browser data.
4. Cookies and advertising
The site and its third-party services use cookies and similar technologies: Google Analytics uses them to distinguish visitors and measure traffic; and when the site displays ads, third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
You can:
- turn off personalized advertising via Google Ad Settings;
- manage third-party advertising cookies via aboutads.info;
- block third-party cookies in your browser settings.
5. Content you submit yourself
The uninstall feedback page submits the uninstall reason you select and the feedback you write to our servers, so that we can improve the product. The form does not require any identifying information — please do not enter sensitive personal information into it.
6. Data retention and security
Analytics and feedback data are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes above. This site is served over HTTPS, and the documentation site itself stores no accounts, passwords or other sensitive data.
7. Your rights
You can clear your browser's local storage and cookies at any time, or opt out of personalized advertising as described in section 4. If you want to know what information we hold about you, ask us to delete feedback you have submitted, or object to how we process it, contact us at the address in the next section. Because the site creates no accounts, we usually cannot link a given record to a specific person, so please include something we can search on (for example the approximate time you submitted the feedback).
8. Policy updates and contact
Any update to this policy will be published directly on this page. If you have questions about it, contact us at [email protected].
